Fish in the Pond overshot and Spring events

New overshot woven pieces are underway and will be ready for CraftBoston Spring, to be held at the lovely Cyclorama in Boston, Massachusetts April 20-22, 2017. This is a new design for me, an 8 shaft pattern variation on "Fish in the Pond" as found in Carol Strickler's "A Weaver's Book of 8-Shaft Patterns."

I plan to try a different treadling variation on the same threading just to see how this affects the overall design. I'm using mercerized cottons in these pieces. This design does not make for "fast" weaving (if there is such a thing, and I have my doubts) but it does generate really interesting motifs and half-tones in the cloth.

NH Open Doors will be a new event for me this year. I will be demonstrating handweaving on my small Harrisville floor loom up at the Littleton Fine Craft Gallery in Littleton, NH on May 6, 2017. I am looking forward to this immensely! Learn more about NH Open Doors by visiting their website and here is a bit of information on my demo in Littleton. It promises to be great fun.

If you are a textile and/or fiber arts enthusiast like me, you may find that you enjoy Instagram just as much as I do. I post a photo just about every day on my Instagram feed  and enjoy seeing the work of fellow makers and artisans from the great state of NH, throughout the region, and all manner of interesting places around the globe. It's fun and inspiring!

Thanks for checking in.

Be well,

Kate K.
